Marvel Rivals welcomes community organizers, content creators, and E-sports organizations to host their own third-party tournaments. Whether you're running a small local bracket or a large-scale open competition, we've built a tiered framework to help you do it right.

How to Apply
Tier 1 Procedure:
- Read the Tier 1 Rules in full
- Fill out the Third-Party Event Hosting Form
- You're good to go — no approval needed, just follow the rules
Tier 2 Procedure:
- Read the Tier 2 Rules in full
- Submit your application via the Hosting Form at least 3 months before your event start date
- We'll respond within 30 days — if you don't hear back, your application has not been approved
- Once approved, proceed with your event following these rules
Tier 3 Procedure:

Key Rules & Requirements
Event Format: You choose the format — just keep it clear for players and in line with industry standards.
Non-Profit Requirement for Tier 1&2: All events must be strictly non-profit. Revenue from sponsorships, entry fees, or advertising must be used to cover event costs or prize distribution — you may not retain any profit.
Prize Pool Limits:
- Tier 1: Max $10,000 USD
- Tier 2: Max $100,000 USD

Sponsorship Rules: Third-party sponsors are welcome within the allowed cap. The following are never permitted: other video game companies, gambling/crypto, tobacco/alcohol/pharma, adult content companies, political or religious organizations, and any sponsor NetEase or Marvel dems inappropriate.
Broadcasting: You may stream your event on any online platform for free. TV broadcast is not permitted. Content must be moderated.
Logos & Branding: Do not use NetEase, Disney, Marvel, or Marvel Rivals logos, trademarks, or key visuals without explicit written approval. You must include the following disclaimer in all materials:
"This event is not endorsed, approved or sponsored by NetEase Games or Marvel."
Event Naming: Do not use these words in your event name: "Marvel", "Ignite", "Final", "NetEase", "Clash", "Official", "Cup", or any term previously used in official Marvel Rivals tournaments.
Player Eligibility: Banned accounts are not eligible to compete. Organizers must verify age compliance under applicable local laws.
Data Privacy: You are the data controller for your event. Do not collect personal data on behalf of NetEase. Comply with GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, and all applicable laws.
Content & Footage: By hosting an event, you grant NetEase a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use footage and content created during the event.
What You're Responsible For
As an organizer, you are solely responsible for:
- All event costs
- Compliance with local laws and regulations
- Setting and enforcing your own event rules
- Ensuring participants meet age and eligibility requirements
- Moderating broadcasts and community behavior
- Ensuring no betting or gambling activity is associated with your event
- NOT creating or selling any Marvel Rivals merchandise

Q: Can anyone host a Marvel Rivals tournament?
A: Yes! As long as you follow the applicable tier rules, any individual or organization can host a community tournament. Individuals must be of legal age under the laws of the country where the event is held.
Q: Do I need approval from Marvel Rivals to host a tournament?
A: It depends on the tier. Tier 1 events do not require prior approval — simply read the rules and submit the hosting form to declare your event. Tier 2 events require you to submit an application at least 3 months in advance and receive explicit approval before proceeding. Tier 3 events require a direct agreement with our team.
Q: How do I know which tier applies to my event?
A: The main differentiators are prize pool and sponsorship size:

Q: I submitted a Tier 2 application. How long until I hear back?
A: Marvel Rivals will respond within 30 days of receiving your application. If you do not receive a response, your application has not been approved. We recommend applying well before the 3-month minimum deadline.
Q: Can I start planning my Tier 2 event before I receive approval?
A: You can begin internal planning, but you may not publicly announce, promote, or proceed with the event until you have received written approval from Marvel Rivals.
Prize Pool & Finances
Q: What is the maximum prize pool I can offer?
A: Tier 1 events may offer up to 10,000USD (or equivalentin local currency).Tier 2 events may offer up to 10,000 USD (or equivalentin local currency). Tier 2 events may offer up to 100,000USD. For events exceeding these amounts, please contact us for Tier 3 guidance.
Q: Can I charge entry fees?
A: Yes, but all revenue — including entry fees, sponsorships, advertising revenue, and any other income — must be used exclusively to fund event costs or prize distribution. You may not retain any profit.
Q: Can I run crowdfunding to boost the prize pool?
A: Yes, crowdfunding is permitted, but the same non-profit rule applies: all funds must go toward event costs or prizes.
Q: Who is responsible for ensuring prize distribution complies with local tax laws?
A: You are. It is your responsibility as the organizer to ensure that all prizes are distributed in compliance with applicable local tax and legal requirements. Marvel Rivals is not involved in prize distribution.
Sponsorship
Q: Can my event have sponsors?
A: Yes. Please refer to our attachment for more details. All sponsor contributions must go toward event costs or prizes.
Q: What types of sponsors are not allowed?
A: The following sponsor categories are prohibited regardless of tier:
- Other video game companies
- Gambling operators, cryptocurrency companies, and unregulated financial institutions
- Tobacco, alcohol, and pharmaceutical companies
- Companies associated with adult content
- Sellers of illegal goods or services, or goods inappropriate for the game's audience
- Political candidates or ballot initiatives
- Religious organizations
- Any sponsor NetEase or Marvel reasonably considers inappropriate for the Marvel Rivals community

Q: Can I have a title sponsor whose name appears in the event title?
A: You may have sponsors, but your event name cannot include terms such as "Marvel," "Ignite," "Final," "NetEase," "Clash," "Official," or "Cup." Sponsor names in the event title are permitted as long as they comply with the naming and sponsorship rules.
Broadcasting & Content
Q: Can I stream my tournament?
A: Yes. You may broadcast your event on any online platform of your choice (e.g., Twitch, YouTube) free of charge. You must not charge viewers any fees to watch, and you must ensure the broadcast is properly moderated.
Q: Can I broadcast my tournament on TV or a cable network?
A: No. Broadcasting on television or any non-online channel is not permitted under the current rules.
Q: Who owns the footage from my event?
A: By hosting an event under these rules, you grant NetEase (and its licensors, affiliates, and partners) a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, distribute, and modify all content and footage recorded during the event. You remain responsible for ensuring no third-party rights restrict NetEase's use of this content.
Q: Will Marvel Rivals promote my event?
A: We may choose to promote your event, but has no obligation to do so.
Branding, Logos & Naming
Q: Can I use the Marvel Rivals logo or characters in my event branding?
A: No, not without explicit written approval from Marvel Rivals. You may not use the logos, trademarks, key visuals, or company names of NetEase, Disney, Marvel, or Marvel Rivals in your event materials without approval.
Q: What disclaimer do I need to include?
A: All event rules and marketing materials must include the following statement:
"This event is not endorsed, approved or sponsored by NetEase Games or Marvel."Unless NetEase has provided specific written instructions otherwise.
Q: What words can I not use in my event name?
A: Do not use any of the following: "Marvel," "Ignite," "Final," "NetEase," "Clash," "Official," "Cup," or any other term previously used in the name of an official Marvel Rivals tournament.
Q: If you asked me to remove their assets. How quickly do I need to act?
A: You must remove any specified assets within 3 business days of receiving written notice from NetEase or Marvel.
Players & Eligibility
Q: Can any player participate in my tournament?
A: Players must be of legal age under the laws of your country (or have parental/guardian consent where legally required). Players whose Marvel Rivals accounts have been banned by NetEase are not eligible to participate.
Q: Can professional or contracted players participate?
A: Players must comply with Marvel Rivals Terms of Use and any applicable league or team contracts. Check with the player's team or organization if you're unsure.
Q: Can I have betting or gambling associated with my event?
A: Absolutely not. You must not engage in, facilitate, or encourage any form of betting or gambling in connection with your event.
Merchandise & IP
Q: Can I sell Marvel Rivals merchandise at my event?
A: No. You may not create or sell any Marvel Rivals merchandise in connection with your event.
Q: Can I modify Marvel Rivals game assets for use in my event?
A: No. You may not modify, adapt, or alter any Marvel Rivals game assets for your event.
Legal & Liability
Q: What law governs these rules?
A: The rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes that cannot be resolved amicably will be handled by the courts of London.
Q: What is NetEase's liability if something goes wrong at my event?
A: NetEase, Marvel, and Disney's aggregate liability is capped at $2,000USD. They are not liable for loss of profits, business, savings, reputation, or any indirect or consequential losses. You, as the organizer, are fully responsible for your event and must indemnify NetEase, Marvel, and Disney against any claims arising from your event.
Q: How long does my license to use the game last?
A: All rights granted under the rules expire 30 days after the end of your event, unless earlier revoked by NetEase.
Q: Can Marvel Rivals cancel my event?
A: Yes. Marvel Rivals may revoke your authorization at any time if you violate the rules, breach Marvel Rivals Terms of Use, or adversely affect NetEase's business or its partners. NetEase may also first give you 3 business days to remedy a breach before taking further action.
Tier 3 Events
Q: My event exceds Tier 2 limits. What do I do?
A: Contact us directly via [contact form/email]. Tier 3 events require a formal agreement involving NetEase's esports and finance teams. We'll guide you through the process once you reach out.
Q: Is there a Tier 3 ruleset I can read?
A: Tier 3 rules are established on a case-by-case basis through a direct agreement. There is no public self-serve ruleset for Tier 3.
